History & Heritage

Seacastles Resort is proudly part of Lafayette Hotels, a family-owned hospitality company. On May 23, 2002, Lafayette Hotels expanded into Ogunquit with the purchase of three properties: the Norseman Resort, Ogunquit River Plantation, and Seacastles Resort. The Seacastles Resort, featuring 45 condominium-style units, was originally developed by the Merrill Family in the mid to late 1980s, alongside the Ogunquit River Plantation. The Merrill Family had owned the Norseman for nearly forty years before the sale, helping shape the area’s hospitality landscape. Today, Seacastles continues to offer a comfortable and convenient stay in the heart of Ogunquit Village, carrying on that long-standing tradition of welcoming guests to the Maine coast.
