Norseman Resorts Are Smoke Free

On September 12, 2009 Maine enacted a new law which prohibits smoking within 20 feet of any public entrance, window, vent, or area where smoke may circulate into a smoke free environment.  Due to this new law, we must prohibit smoking on all decks, balconies and patios at all three of our properties.  At the request of our guests, the Norseman became completely smoke free in 2007.  We made this decision because all of our rooms were nonsmoking and the cigarette smoke from the outdoor seating areas was circulating throughout the decks and into the guest rooms due to the ocean breezes.  While all guest rooms at our properties have been nonsmoking for a number of years, we did continue to allow smoking on the decks, balconies and patios at both Seacastles and Ogunquit River Inn & suites.  However, the new law makes it impossible for us to continue to allow smoking in those areas.  While staying at the Norseman, smoking is permitted on the beach and on the public benches facing the beach.  Guests at Seacastles may use the seating areas on the lawn adjacent to Seacastles II and there will also be a designated smoking area for guests staying at Ogunquit River Inn & Suites.      

 

Don't Forget Your Laptop

All Rooms  at the Norseman  and Seacastles have complimentary wireless internet service.  We also have a complimentary computer in the lobbies of all three properties for checking  e-mail.               

  A Word About The Gulls, Again

Once again, we would like to remind our guests that although it may be fun to watch a group of hovering seagulls vie for food which is thrown to them-human food and snacks are not healthy for the birds.  They also become a general nuisance for our guests by leaving their "calling cards" on your decks and furniture.  They also help themselves to the meals of guests trying to enjoy their dining experience at Splash.  Please help us keep them healthy and our guests happy by not feeding the seagulls.

 

Parking At The Norseman

Parking at the Norseman  is very limited during busy times.  Due to this, we allow one vehicle per room in our parking lot.  We must also ask that vehicles be removed from our parking lot by 11:30 am on the day of your departure.  Overnight parking for additional vehicles is available in the Town parking lot adjacent to the Norseman for a fee.  If you return from your evening out and are having difficulty obtaining a parking spot in our lot for your one vehicle, please come to the office and we will be happy to assist you.  We will even accept your keys and valet your vehicle for you. 

 

Champion The Cure

Champion the Cure, is a two-year, 9.5 million fundraiser for the new Lafayette Family Cancer Center, a 132,000-square foot treatment and research facility located in Brewer, Maine.  Danny & Carla Lafayette have pledged $2 million to the campaign and Norseman Resorts will be assisting the Lafayette's in meeting that pledge.  The Lafayette's are committed to cancer research because their son Ramsey was diagnosed with melanoma at the age of 18.  Now a junior at Harvard University, Ramsey has undergone treatment in Maine and Massachusetts for his cancer and is now healthy.  A recent report in Men's Health identified Bangor, Maine as the eighth most dangerous city for contracting melanoma.  Therefore, a cancer treatment and research center is very important to the State of Maine.  Norseman Resorts will be offering a variety of different promotions such as raffles and selling toy lobsters or moose with all proceeds being donated to the cancer center.  Please help support this very worthwhile cause.

 

NORSEMAN OCEANFRONT ROOMS

The Norseman has a total of 34 oceanfront rooms in our Sundowner and Skipper's Deck buildings and due to this limited availability, we must adhere to a 5 night minimum stay on all advance bookings for peak season.  As peak season approaches, we are happy to accommodate shorter stays in oceanfront rooms as space becomes available.  Advance bookings for shorter stays are always available in our Dunes and Portside (4 nights) and River, Gangplank or Sailoft (3 nights).  Shorter stays may also be available in those buildings as we get closer to our summer months.

 

Reservations Made Easy

During 2010, the Norseman and Seacastles will be offering on-line reservations which will offer you immediate bookings.  You will no longer need to hear from us to confirm your on-line reservation requests.  This great new feature will not be available until we complete our computer upgrade and we will let you know when you may begin making confirmed reservations on-line at our website http://www.ogunquitbeach.com/.

E-mail Addresses

We will be  very diligent in collecting e-mail addresses from our guests beginning this year.  It is our intent to begin eliminating written confirmations and replacing them with e-mail confirmations.  This will save paper, postage and allow you to have immediate access to your confirmation rather than waiting 3-7 days for U.S. Mail.  Of course, we will still offer written confirmations via U.S. Mail for those who refuse to touch a computer!

The Ogunquit River Inn & Suites has 81 elegant rooms overlooking the Rachel Carson Wildlife Preserve, offering river and ocean views.  We have an expanded complimentary breakfast.  You can stay with us in season and enjoy our heated outdoor pool and hot tub or leave your car while you enjoy the beach during the day.
